Life Snippets

Sawadee-ka! Can it really be over two weeks since I ate silkworms? Nothing quite that exciting has happened in the interim, but we have kept plenty busy with teaching, conducting workshops, and just living. Here are a few snippets.

I Ate Silkworms

Grasshoppers are good, but silkworms are better--soft, and a little bit sweet. I got to taste them at a visit to an Isaan village organized for the teachers from Vermont on Friday, July 7.

We Gave Up Work for Buddhist Lent

Sawadee-ka, at long last. We've had an incredibly busy couple of weeks at work topped off by a long holiday weekend during which we could have caught up on blogging except, just our luck, the Internet was down (not unusual--Thailand is still a developing country).

Workshops Galore

I was told before I came to Thailand that Fulbright Scholars are kept pretty busy. This is no idle rumor. Besides teaching classes, I was invited to speak at three different events during my first two weeks on campus.
